Pastor James Malkemes                                          About The Pastor

Dear Friends:

This has been a great summer for those who like warm weather.  God provided a beautiful day for our church  picnic.  The water and beach were fun along with hours of enjoyable fellowship.  About 27 people were able to be  blessed by JoeAnne and Kent’s hospitality.  Thank you for providing a great place to relax.

August is a transition month as we leave summer activities and begin to think about school and the fall.  On Saturday, August 7th, Jim and Debbie Kelsey our missionaries will be visiting our church.  There will be a potluck dinner along with a time of sharing.  As a church family, we would like to begin supporting Jim and Debbie as they work in Italy.  Please make the effort to come out to meet them and learn how God is blessing their ministry.  There is a sign up sheet for this time of fellowship.

Ladies Aid has been a significant part of the outreach of Newton Junction Baptist Church.  Starting this fall, the name will be changed to Women’s Ministry.  Though the name will change, it will continue to embrace those missionary outreaches of previous years while expanding their ministry.  I encourage all our ladies, regardless of age to get involved in this ministry.  You can find a niche for yourself because of the great diversity involved in their work.  Their first meeting will be a night meeting, September 11th at 6:00 p.m. for an evening meal.  Most meetings are on the second Monday of each month at 9:30 a.m.

I am writing this letter one week before Vacation Bible School.  I would like to say “thank you” to all who helped in any way.  Your labor of love whether large or small was needed so that the children will be blessed.

Karen is almost done with her 6th summer of cooking for the Boston Project Ministries.  She is done on August 17th.  Thanks for all the prayers and support you have given to my wife.  She has enjoyed being a part of this mission outreach.  Many of you took the opportunity to provide a variety of food items, which was a tremendous blessing to this group.  Please continue to uphold this ministry in prayer.

Let me remind you that if you want a visit please let me know.  For those of you who are not able to attend church, if you would like to partake of communion in your home, I can arrange that for you.  Also, please bring to my attention is you would like to be baptized or join the church.  This is your church and I want to serve you in the best way that I can.

Enjoy this month of August. Many of our activities will resume in September so get rested up and pray about where you can be involved.

                                                                        In His service,

                                                                         Pastor Jim Malkemes

“Let us not become weary in doing good,
for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people,
especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

Galatians 6:9-10
